Famous Marijuana Advocates

There are hundreds of celebrities that are standing up in the big marijuana debate.  From Willie Nelson to Melissa Etheridge, many of these celebrity advocates are speaking out on the perks of cannabis. It is likely that many of these same celebrities support medical marijuana clinics in Las Vegas, Nevada and other areas in the country where recommending cannabis is legal.

Melissa Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2004.  She has openly told reporters that she opted to smoking marijuana instead of taking three different prescriptions.  Melissa said, “When you smoke cannabis, it takes you to a place of 'normal.'  You don't get high.  When you're healthy and you smoke, you go to other places that your own consciousness, but when you're in physical distress, it takes you to a place of peace within your body.”

The incredibly talented singer Sting was criticized in September of 2010 by Russian communists during his tour of their country because of his “public promotion of drugs.”  It is said that Sting was promoting the legalization of marijuana.  In a recent blog Sting said:  “'The War on Drugs' has failed – but it's worse than that.  It is actively harming our society.  Violent crime is thriving in the shadows to which the drug trade has been consigned.  People who genuinely need help can't get it.  Neither can people who need medical marijuana to treat terrible diseases.”

Dennis Hopper who is terminally ill due to prostate cancer is smoking marijuana to ease his pain in his final days.  Hopper obtains marijuana legally because of his cancer from a dispensary near his house in Venice, California.  Medical marijuana doctors in Las Vegas want to be able to help patients in their area like the doctors in California are able to help theirs.

Famous Musician, Willie Nelson says, “I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug.  Marijuana is an herb and a flower.  God put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”

The late Patrick Swazye reportedly took medical marijuana during his chemotherapy treatments and daily fight with pancreatic cancer.  He believed that marijuana helped immensely with the pain and suffering from cancer. Other celebrities that advocate the use of medical marijuana include Woody Harrelson, Alanis Morissette, Alicia Silverstone, Jennifer Aniston, Bill Maher, Stephen King, Matthew McConaughey, Paul McCartney, Carrie Fisher, Jane Fonda, Dionne Warwick – and that’s just naming a small portion!

Famous politicians have even smoked cannabis – including President Obama, President Clinton, President Kennedy, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and several others. According to a recent article on CNN, “Drug use is so widespread the FBI changed its policy of not hiring people with a history of illegal drug use because the policy disqualified so many people that it could not fill its law enforcement positions.”

With celebrities, politicians, doctors that prescribe medical marijuana in Nevada and other states, and common folk raising the issue here that cannabis should be legalized for medical purposes, it is likely that sooner or later, all fifty states will have no choice but to adopt it as law.
